How fun is this dress for summer? The colors and the swirly seaweed pattern remind me of my childhood for many reasons.

First, I LOVED mermaid movies. There was The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan, Aquamarine, The Little Mermaid II, The Little Mermaid III, The Little Mermaid TV series (do you get the gist?)--and even non-mermaid movies like Free Willy and Shark Tale. I didn't like Nemo, although I could relate to Dory since our names rhymed. What it all boils down to though, really, is The Little Mermaid.

I ESPECIALLY loved The Little Mermaid. I could belch out a tune sort of like Ariel could (haha...not)--and I even had the Ariel BARBIE doll. She didn't have a tail, but the Ketchup red hair was enough for me! I can remember taking baths as a little girl and bringing Ariel in with me, because I knew that she missed the sea ;) I was even Ariel for Halloween one year!

Lastly, I was a swimmer. Every summer, and for a few years in the winter as well, I'd break out my cap and goggles, my one-piece swim suits, and prepare for the awful racerback tan-line and matching pasty white stomach. It was so fun to spend my mornings at the pool with my friends, doing laps, and than staying at the pool way way past morning. My brother is now the swimmer of the family, swimming almost every day and getting crazy fast times and stuff. Let me tell you--he is VERY good.

I don't do anything crazy like dress up as Ariel, watch The Little Mermaid infinite times, or get AS awful of tan-lines anymore. Oceans and mermaids and swimming aren't a big factor in my life anymore. Not because I don't have the time, but because I'm just not as interested. But in a strange/crazy/really awesome way, this dress allows me to become the mermaid that I always wished to be. And sometimes, still do wish to be.

Say hello to my brand new skirt from Sheinside! What do you guys think?

I really like the concept and the look of it, but to be honest I'm not quite sure how else to style it. Plus, it's a bit mature for my style: I even had a tough time finding an outfit for it! This look seems a bit too"grown-up" to me. Despite all of these cons, I'm still glad I selected this skirt. A little style challenge is good to further develop my style! I also found a way to add some fun in with a pop of Bubblicious pink. You may notice I don't wear bright colors enough. Or even colors in general! And it's true--I have a lot of black, brown, and neutral tones in my wardrobe that just go together so well!

I want that to change this Spring and Summer. I'm going to try orienting a bit more color into every outfit! That should be easy with the bracelet on it's way to me from Rocks Paper Metal...talk about neon! Can't wait to get my hands on this sweet accessory!

Also, if you like this skirt your in LUCK. Get 20% off your order at Sheinside with code RORY20 until the end of may! They've got plenty of young, fun, (and yes, colorful) clothing to get you through the season! I'm sure with some effort I'll find more fun ways to style this skirt

Fall for Spring

Outfit Details:
High/Low Sweater-c/o Wholesale-Dress.net
Necklace-(giveaway) ElVintage
Boots-Vince Camuto via Lord & TaylorScarf-Quiksilver c/o Chictopia (Chic Rewards)

This look feels very FALL to me. Maybe it's the colors--maybe it's the bare trees--or maybe it's the crisp, cool (not cold) weather we've had around here as of late. Whatever it is, I'm just glad it's not actually Fall! In my tip-top seasonal analysis here, I told you all about how the heat of Summer comes after Spring. Well, the chill of Winter comes after Fall. Therefore, Spring>Fall>Winter. And I'm not sure how I feel about Summer. What I've learned? I should start another blog on the four seasons and how they make me feel...I seriously need to stop boring you with my opinions on seasonal matters! :)

On another note, this is LOOK 2 in my new feature, "In the Mixx" (see the full LOOK 1 here). Hurray! Which look do you guys like better?
