I am super excited to introduce you to my very first sponsor....OASAP! 6 days after the launch of my blog, and two posts in, you can imagine how surprised I was to see an email from the brand sitting in my inbox! You may have noticed the ad on the right hand side (scroll down a bit and click on it if you'd like).  Also, I'd like to express my awe and respect for fashion bloggers everywhere, who all winter long stand outside in the cold; coatless, with smiles frozen on their faces, for the sake of a blog. By the end of this shoot, my lips were chattering and my fingers blue. It may look all mild and warm and comfortable in these pictures, but I can assure you it WAS NOT. I guess that's what I get for wearing shorts in the middle of January.

Shop-aholic

Outfit Details:
Silk Dress-Lulu's
Sweater-J.Crew
Hat-gifted Marshalls
Tights-Simply Vera Vera Wang
Bracelets-gifted and DIY
Necklace-Flea Market
Belt-Forever 21

If there were to be one thing written on my forehead, it would be "Shop-aholic". Since my mother probably wouldn't let me tattoo that on my forehead, I'll have to live with a bracelet to do the job. Everyone needs some way to identify themselves. Like it or not, there are stereotypes and categories that we all fit into somehow. And although "Shop-aholic" isn't an option under "Please select your race", I'm convinced we're our own species. When I'm shopping, you do NOT want to get in my way.

Outfit Details:
Button Up-Old Navy
Dress (worn as skirt)-Topshop
Necklace-Nasty Gal

I'm a BIG fan of combat boots. Anything that will make my size 9's look like size 11's are the shoes for me!

Just kidding. Although I do like combat boots, it's not because they make your feet look bigger. Even if they do. I can get over that teeny detail for the fact that they make a twirly, girly outfit a bit more edgy. One-sided outfits aren't interesting enough, in my opinion. I need my outfits to be two-faced; to have one distinct vibe and another overshadowed vibe that you can find if you look hard enough. These particular boots might not be considered combat boots, but they're some form of man-hiking-combat boots that make this outfit a bit more me. Whenever I am looking to add something to my outfit, it's usually in the form of footwear, legwear, or neckwear. Hallelujah for patterned tights, crazy shoes, and chunky necklaces! How do you add spice to your outfits?

Boots-Dolce Vita via Piperlime

Tonight was spent with my two best friends watching Titanic (and crying), then watching Bridesmaids as a pick me up. As a blog about fashion, my general life is clearly not the focus. Many of you want to hear me write about the latest fashions, what I bought where, where and when I wore it, how I style it, etc......or maybe not. But sometimes, even if it is not interesting to the majority, you have to do something for someone else. Or two someone elses.  Thank you, Nicole and Mary, for following me from the beginning and being two of the best friends anyone could ever have! I don't know what I'd do without the two of you to make me laugh every day! (Don't you just love those cheeseball moments?)

Kookiness

Outfit Details: Coat-American Eagle,  Dress-Forever 21,  Tights-Ralph Lauren via Lord and Taylor, Pumps- Tahari via Lord and Taylor,  Bracelets–Blue and Purple-Vintage and DIY’d, Painted-Vintage and DIY'd, wrap bracelet-gifted from my friend Katie,  Necklace- gifted

Some days, matching isn't a top priority. As long as you feel good and YOU think you look good, it doesn't matter what everyone else thinks, right? And if you're confident wearing your haphazard outfit, people may start to think that it really is stylish.  In this outfit, my source of kookiness is two different, mismatched purples. I like looking a little out there sometimes. It's just further proof that fashion is for myself, not for anyone else. I wear outfits because they please me, not because I'm trying to impress someone (not to say that I don't want you to like them...;) ).

What I Like About You

Outfit Details: Blazer-American Eagle,  Dress-Ruttish (giveaway),  Socks-JCPenney, Boots- Dolce Vita for Target, , Bracelet–Vintage and DIY’d,  Necklace- J. Crew,  Nails- Sally Hansen Xtreme "Lacey Lilac"

I’m 16 years old and half way through my sophomore year in high school. I have one brother, who is 16 months younger, two parents who both work, and a puppy named Ellie who is a soft coated wheaten terrier show dog. I’m a soccer goalkeeper for my high school varsity team, a writer for HighSchoolPieces.com (check it ouuuuttt) and a Friends fan. I'm a lifeguard whose shining moment was giving a kid with a cut a Band-Aid. I've modelled for the etsy shop Echoing Waters where my good friend Lauren handmakes one-of-a-kind accessories. I shop WAY too much for the teeny-tiny closet I have. I’ve never broken a bone, never had a cavity, and never been to the emergency room. I am a dark chocolate girl through and through, and have a totally normal fetish for buffets. I never wear a working watch and I ALWAYS want to know the time. I live in a 160-year-old house that is home to much more than the five of us (yes, I mean bugs/ bats/ squirrels/ spiders/ centipedes/ mice/ ants).

So that’s just a little bit about me in case you haven't happened to read the “About Me” which doesn’t say anything about any of that anyway. Thanks for stopping by!

Welcome to Wear Abouts!

When I first set my eyes upon a fashion blog, I couldn’t even fathom what I would be getting into. I’d never heard of NY Fashion Week, I didn’t really understand the concept of a blog, and I never thought I would be starting one of my own. But with my first glimpse of raw, run-by-real-girl style, I realized magazines were nothing compared to this. I was far from alone in my love of shopping and looking good when I left my house everyday. After that, I would wake each morning and I would pour over my favorite blogs, admiring and getting inspired by what I saw. My blog roll grew bigger—I craved seeing the where (or wear) abouts of girls and women like me from all over the world. And then it dawned on me that if I loved seeing everyone else’s style so much, maybe they would like to see mine! I knew I’d certainly love to have a place on the web to call home, a creative outlet to express not only my style but my writing, a place where I could document the girl I was growing up to be. Sure, it’s not really a “glimpse into my soul”. But fashion is part of what makes me ME.

Don’t get me wrong: I’m no Natalie, and I’m certainly no Rumi. But I am Rory. And I don’t want to be anyone else but me. My style is my own and though not as extravagant or expensive as others, it is unique. I’d love to have you with me on this blogging journey, in which I hope to grow thru my style and grow as a person. If you follow or if you don’t, if you’re excited or if you’re not, if this world of mine means something or has no effect on you at all, this is going to be a place where I share with you something (hopefully) inspiring that I can call my own. Whether it be my outfits, my writing, my style, or my life; it will be, simply put, me.Welcome to Wear Abouts.
