Worth It

As of today my junior year is officially halfway over. It's crazy, how time flies. I'm already putting together my schedule for senior year and have taken the SATs twice. I have two AP exams in May and more SATs/ACTs/SAT IIs coming up. I've visited a few schools and this spring I'll be visiting hopefully many more. After that I'll be writing my applications. It's gonna be a rough year but I know that in a year from now, when I've gotten into the school of my dreams, all of this will be worth it.

The Evil Black Friday Fairy

Dress- c/o Glamorous UK | Button up- c/o Sheinside | Shoes- Target | Seamless leggings- c/o Too Sexy Store | Leather cuff- c/o Cosmorones | Bracelet- gifted | Necklaces- c/o Best Personalized Jewelry, c/o Anjolee

So I had this whole post written up about how I was not going Black Friday shopping blah blah blah and it went something like this:

"I'm usually the first person online at the H+M at the mall on Black Friday. I'm that crazy lady who pushes people out of the way and whacks them with her super full shopping bags. I'm a store owner's nightmare because I'm a tornado and I try on EVERYTHING and buy like one thing. Once a year, I'm the evil Black Friday Fairy. But this year...I'm not. I won't spend all morning shopping. I won't get up at 1 AM to spend ten hours shopping."

And then I went on to say why:
"Well, first of all, my closet is kind of brimming with clothes right now. I don't have much extra room than what's already in there! And also, last year, I had a bad experience of waiting in the checkout line for TWO hours at H+M and it was exhausting. Well, more exhausting for my mom who stood there for the full two hours at 4AM while I wandered around. But still."

And then I even made myself feel better about it by saying:
"Finally, lots of places are offering free shipping and the same deals online as they are in stores! Why browse the crazy sale racks and navigate all of those evil crazy people *ahem me* when I can sit in my PJs on the couch with some nice music playing and shop online?? So that's what I'll be doing this year"

But then....I didn't do that.
I didn't because online shopping is a joke when you can go and do the REAL thing and touch all of the clothes instead of stroking your screen and try on all of the shoes instead of hoping they run true to size and experience the thrill and push people out of the way and stuff. So, you guys, I'm going Black Friday shopping.

THE EVIL BLACK FRIDAY FAIRY LIVES ON.

I'm on my way out riiiight now. I'm later than most crowds. But last year, we left too early. I'll still get the deals, and I'll miss the crowds a bit now. But I won't miss the rush of it. The rush of adrenaline, that is. I've still got that and I can't wait!!! What's Black Friday without shopping, anyway? BLACK FRIDAY 2012 HERE I COME.

What are your plans for Black Friday?

Oh right, and yesterday was Thanksgiving! Almost forgot :) My Thanksgiving was nice. I pigged out on potatoes and pie :) And I wore this comfy outfit. Don't worry, the dress is loose enough that it hid any sign of food baby!

What can you do when a hurricane is blowing your house down and you're bored to death? Why, watch Grease of course! Sandy, after all, is the main character. And that's the name of this wild storm that's knocking at the door! (In case you missed it, the title of this post is from the song "Sandy" sung by John Travolta in Grease.) The worst of it is supposed to hit around 9 pm tonight where I am. I still have power...surprisingly...but I'm sure I'll be out of it by then. Getting in some last minute blogging until then! These are some quick snaps taken on my back porch. Couldn't do it out in the open since I use a tripod (not a real person) and so my camera would get wet. See you on the other side of this monstrous hurricane!

You Won't Be Seventeen Forever

At 2:53 pm, 17 years ago, I WAS BORN! So if you're reading this at the exact moment in which I'm posting it (2:53, duh), it's my birth minute! If you aren't, well, it's my birthday! Not as cool as birth minute but cool nonethless. As I alluded to in the title of this post, the song "Seventeen Forever" by Metro Station is playing in my head. I'll leave you with my favorite lyrics from two songs that apply to a day like today:

"But let's not ask why it's not right, you won't be seventeen forever" -Metro Station

"Seventeen only comes once in a lifetime, don't it just fly by wild and free, goin' any way the wind blew, baby"- Tim McGraw

Both say the same thing--it won't last forever. Nothing lasts forever, though, right? You gotta sieze the moment and live like there's no tomorrow. Here's to another amazing year--and the last one of my childhood!

I am very excited to announce that I am going to be guest blogging for Camp Broadway! You may have seen my outfit for seeing Chaplin. Well, Camp Broadway saw it too! And now I'm a monthly blogger for them, focusing on what to wear when you go to the theater. Theater has always been a passion of mine. When I was younger, I danced, acted, and…attempted…to sing. While my calling is no longer being in the spotlight, I love to see a good show. In the past seven years, I’ve seen nearly 20 Broadway plays, ranging from Wicked to Hairspray and most recently (thanks to CB!), Chaplin.
As a New York City regular and frequent show-goer, I am going to theme outfits around particular plays and musicals. I absolutely love to get all dressed up, and seeing a show is one of the best times to do it! Why not take it a step further, and dress like you’re part of the show? Or dress according to a spin you take from the name of the play or one of its characters?
One of the most popular Broadway plays showing right now is Peter and the StarcatcherWinner of 5 Tony Awards, it is a spin off of the classic Peter Pan that we all knew and loved in our childhood. The play also gets inspiration from Peter and the Starcatchers, a wonderful book that takes you further into the depths of Neverland than the original story does. As a lover of both the new and old versions of Peter, I would love to be able to see Peter and the Starcatcher. And when I do (inevitably) see the play, this is what I'd wear! I sort of went along with the name "Starcatcher" in dressing in (double) star prints. What do you think?

Watermelon Red

Outfit Details:
Skirt-c/o Sheinside
Top-(giveaway) Romwe
Shoes-c/o MyHotShoes (USE DISCOUNT CODE "RORY2")

Look at me...third day straight in a row posting!!! :)

I've been drawn to sleeveless collared shirts lately. And also to tying them in a knot at the bottom like I did here. Maybe because they're more polished than just a plain tank top? Or because they look cute tucked in? Or maybe it's because they're often times slightly sheer, and I can wear a fun printed bandeau underneath?

Nope, it's the knot. It took all I had to knot put a knot in this shirt!

(Did ya catch my pun? ;))

On another note, these wedges from My Hot Shoes go with EVERYTHING. I can't wait to get my (natural) tan on this summer! Whites and light colors look great with a tan and these shoes won't be an exception to that. Expect to see these with all my cute little summer dresses! WANT EM? USE COUPON CODE "RORY2" on your order for a special discount! :)
