A Disorganized Hoarder

Top- Urban Outfitters, Skirt- Old Navy, Belt- Gap, Shoes- Calypso for Target, Ring- Manic Trout, Friendship Bracelets- DIY, Necklace- Rice's Market

I was featured on Linda's blog, Trendy Teal yesterday since it was her first day of college!!! Check out one of my back to school looks featured on her blog here.

This outfit is perfect because it's transitionary. While the neons and espadrille wedges keep us hanging on to summer, the darker colors transition into fall.
On a non-fashion related note...I have a little characteristic about myself (that hopefully some of you have, too)! I should start by saying that I am a very disorganized person. As in I like to keep all of my things scattered on my floor in my room. Stuff is much easier to find that way, right?? Anyways, at the beginning of every school year, I buy a gazillion binders and color code them into sections. I count out equal number pens and pencils and put them in a shiny new pencil case. I even organize my locker all special into sections. And on the first day, my handwriting is miraculously neat--and I copy down the teacher word for word. In my colorful (NEAT) binders, of course. Let me tell you, that does not last long. By the second or third week, I've got papers strewn in my locker. Empty water bottles stuck in every nook and cranny. Binders are long forgotten. And (*cringe*) sometimes food and candy wrappers. Okay, not sometimes...always. I'm basically a disorganized hoarder. The thing is, I like organization. I really do. And the fact that I try at the beginning of the year proves it! But I just can't keep it up. I guess using binders and keeping a locker clean and a room clean and a closet organized and my laundry all in one place and...wait, let's get back on track.

What I'm trying to say is, it's just too much effort to stay organized. I'm always hurrying from one place to the next. So why does everything need to be organized? This year, I've finally learned my lesson. I am not buying binders...gasp. And I'm sharing a locker with my most organized friend (who will kick me out if I'm messy)!!! So I'm starting on the right foot this year. Let's see how long I'll last! :)

So, there you have my back to school story! Is anyone else messy and disorganized like me? But, if you had the time, would be organized? Tell me I'm not alone!
All kidding aside, my outfits are organized! I love to color coordinate in my outfits and wear corresponding accessories.
Do you have any quirky characteristics ?

The Little Mermaid

Outfit Details:
Dress- vintage c/o Native Heart
Bracelet- c/o Marcella Leone (you'll be able to win it--soon!)

Necklace- (giveaway) El Vintage
Blue Ring- (giveaway) Manic Trout

Ear Cuff- c/o  MJAT (stay tuned for an ear cuff giveaway!)
Shoes- Calypso for Target

How fun is this dress for summer? The colors and the swirly seaweed pattern remind me of my childhood for many reasons.

First, I LOVED mermaid movies. There was The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan, Aquamarine, The Little Mermaid II, The Little Mermaid III, The Little Mermaid TV series (do you get the gist?)--and even non-mermaid movies like Free Willy and Shark Tale. I didn't like Nemo, although I could relate to Dory since our names rhymed. What it all boils down to though, really, is The Little Mermaid.

I ESPECIALLY loved The Little Mermaid. I could belch out a tune sort of like Ariel could (haha...not)--and I even had the Ariel BARBIE doll. She didn't have a tail, but the Ketchup red hair was enough for me! I can remember taking baths as a little girl and bringing Ariel in with me, because I knew that she missed the sea ;) I was even Ariel for Halloween one year!

Lastly, I was a swimmer. Every summer, and for a few years in the winter as well, I'd break out my cap and goggles, my one-piece swim suits, and prepare for the awful racerback tan-line and matching pasty white stomach. It was so fun to spend my mornings at the pool with my friends, doing laps, and than staying at the pool way way past morning. My brother is now the swimmer of the family, swimming almost every day and getting crazy fast times and stuff. Let me tell you--he is VERY good.

I don't do anything crazy like dress up as Ariel, watch The Little Mermaid infinite times, or get AS awful of tan-lines anymore. Oceans and mermaids and swimming aren't a big factor in my life anymore. Not because I don't have the time, but because I'm just not as interested. But in a strange/crazy/really awesome way, this dress allows me to become the mermaid that I always wished to be. And sometimes, still do wish to be.

DON'T FORGET TO ENTER TO WIN AN AWESOME SCARF!!!

This shirt is one of my most recent giveaway wins. For those of you who don't know, a giveaway is exactly what it sounds like: a blogger giving away sponsored items in order to gain followers or because they're being compensated. They're really fun--it's always great to be rewarded for following a blog that you're normally following anyway!

On to this tee: after seeing infamous blogger after infamous blogger wear coveted "Stylemint" tees designed by none other than M-K & Ashley Olsen, it was exciting to win two tees from the brand! These tees are real quality: soft, not clingy, perfect looseness, and impeccably designed. I've probably worn this shirt 5 times since I got it (2 weeks ago). Safe to say I REALLY like Stylemint :)

Maybe it's because I'm Irish, or perhaps I always comment at the right time, but I've been extremely lucky when it comes to winning giveaways. I've won more than I can count on BOTH of my hands since I discovered fashion blogs (about a year ago!). Crazy, right??

Recently, I've won tights (thanks Jess!) which you'll see me style soon, a Free People top that's perfect for Spring, 2 Stylemint Tees, a Shabby Apple dress, and two Vedette tops. And that's in the past MONTH.

It all started in June, when I won my first giveaway. It was a set of magnets, of all things! I was SO excited....I was new to following blogs then, so the idea of getting something for free blew my mind! Then, winning became more frequent. In the summer I won a ring from Manic Trout, Ettika bracelets, a gift card to RUTTISH (who is now one of my sponsors!), two leather bags (both of which I sold on Ebay), a bodysuit, and two pairs of shoes from Sole Society. In the fall, my wins included: a necklace from El Vintage, a chambray shirt, and two gift cards to InPink. I also scored a credit for a pair of Blowfish shoes (which I have yet to redeem).

That is a grand total of EIGHTEEN (18) GIVEAWAY WINS (!!!!!!!!!!!!!). And I'm sure I've left out one or two! It's not like I enter millions and millions of giveaways, either. Only the blogs that I follow!

Have any of you had luck like me? Tell me in the comments what sorts of giveaways you've won before! :)

Now all that's left to do is to go out tomorrow and buy a lottery ticket. How much do you think I'd win? :)
