Apple of My Eye

The pattern on this dress looked like apples to me, but it could also be petals or hearts. My styling was simplistic but chic--perfect for summer. I have some ways in mind to wear this layered as well in the winter! Also, if you'd like to get it in sky blue I found it online at Tobi HERE. I think the blue is just as pretty if not prettier! Also had a SUPER DUPER fun photoshoot on Monday with my bff and two of my friends from working at the pool. It was so fun and I can't wait to share the pictures with you guys! You know when you're in one of those moods? And everything just seems AWESOME? I'm in one of those moods. And with good reason(s)! Everything seems to be coming together for me right now: my room is (almost) finished, I finished the school year with straight As for the first time in my high school career, and I found out today that I scored a 5 (the highest score!) on the AP US history (aka APUSH) exam that I took back in May. I worked so hard for it...and I am SO GLAD that it has paid off! Life is good.

And to top it off, today is my 6th month blogiversary! Yep, my little baby blog is half a year old. And to celebrate, as some of you may have seen on my Twitter and Facebook, I'm switching platforms and changing up my design. I'm no HTML guru, so I'm switching to blogger where customizations are simple and polished. The domain name will still be the same, but my blog will look slightly different and I'll have google friend connect! That should be launching this week, so bear with me as this site may be down for a bit!

To top THAT off, I'm going to Ikea today to buy some finishing touches for my closet room (who doesn't love going to Ikea??). These pictures were actually taken in that room because it's so scorching hot outside! I apologize for my frizzy hair (THIS IS THE FIRST BLOG POST WITH MY HAIR UP...can you see why? :) ), and for the bad lighting, yada yada yada.

And now about the look...kept it simple in a pleated skirt and tied up breezy top with a bandeau underneath. In the summer, it's all about staying cool and layering is not an option...unless you've got yourself a bandeau!

So I'll post pictures for you of my closet once it's TOTALLY done. And I'm off to Ikea now...not sure if I'll be posting soon thanks to the switch to blogger but I hope I will be!

I'm also playing in a summer soccer league with my school team, which started up yesterday. It felt so good to get back out on the field after a few month hiatus from playing in games (I've still been training). It's weird--I was thinking about it, and I don't know that much about the bloggers behind the blogs I read (other than where they shop :P ). To me, and to readers in general, all they are is someone who posts an outfit every so often. You don't always realize that they are actually doing stuff, too. I mean, I obviously didn't go and play soccer in this outfit...but when I think about it, I haven't really talked to you that much about soccer!

With the true soccer season fast approaching, I figure now's a good time as any.

I'm the starting varsity goalkeeper for my school's team which means I stand in the big rectangular box and prevent the ball from going in. Or try to, anyways. It's harder than it sounds! And when I play goalie, I'm very unstylish. I wear men's pants with big padding on the sides that makes my hips look huge. I wear a long-sleeved, baggy shirt that is also meant for a man. Also, I wear a mouthguard and headgear (safety FIRST) as required of me by my dad ("just protecting your BRAIN, Rory") and smelly gloves to catch the ball with. It makes for a good look, right?

This picture is about a year old, before the addition of my beloved headgear to my game attire. But I assure you, it only adds to my already stylish look.

When I was little, I was a ballerina. Or rather, I went to a ballet studio once a week to "practice ballet". The clumsy jumps and falling that went on in that place probably don't qualify me as a ballerina, but I had the little ballet shoes and the leotard and all (I don't think we had tutus). I was even in productions of the Nutcracker multiple times as a mouse...yep, real graceful. And I was once in Cinderella as well...again, as a mouse.  And one year, to my excitement, I was a tin soldier!!! But never an actual fairy princess or anything glamorous. Still, I considered myself a budding starlet until at around age 8 I realized my talents were not improving (had they ever?) and I sadly had to leave my devoted teachers and fellow ballerinas behind. That was around the same time that I decided that gymnastics were not my area of expertise, either, considering I hadn't progressed further than a forward roll. I still can't do a cartwheel.

This outfit right here is about as close as I'll ever get to being an actual fairy princess ballerina. I'll admit, ballet just wasn't my thing. I'm thinking about maybe giving gymnastics a shot again, though. You don't have to be flexible, right?
